Starting Sunday April 7, the Lathrop House will be open for the 2019 season. This gem of history is the only Underground Railroad site open to the public in Northwest Ohio. You can hear the story of the Abolitionists in Ohio and the role our our region played in helped enslaved peoples escape to freedom. You’ll also get to tour the recreated basement area where the escapees hid in a secret room behind the fireplace.
This summer we bring back our popular Reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 4 at 10:00 and our annual Celebration of Freedom August 3 starting at noon.
The Lathrop House is open Sundays through November 17 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM (excluding Easter and May 19). There is no admission charged but we appreciatively accept donations at the door.
