When you can't come to us, let us come to you with "History on the Road"!

While nothing replaces the experience of visiting one of our historic sites in person, we know that isn't always possible. Let us come to you! We offer a variety of content based, hands on learning experiences right in your classroom or facility. From Native American artifacts to old fashioned games, we have something for just about any student. *Our programs are geared towards elementary aged students.

Our History on the Road program will be brought to you by one of our knowledgeable staff members. The staff member can accommodate one class of 25 students at a time. If you have more students or classes, we can schedule multiple programs in one day, with up to 4 classes per day. The cost is $50 per program.

Programs Offered

Pioneer Program: This program is 45 minutes long and includes a fun interactive game to help understand life as a pioneer in the 1800's as well as some hands on games. First, students will get to put on their curator hats and try to decipher the purpose of an original artifact from the 1800's. The instructor will show an object and give some clues as to what the object might have been used for or what it was called. The students can then guess and will learn the true purpose of each. The second half of the program will give students a chance to experience common games that Pioneer children would play. From interactive group games to wooden games of skill.

Native American Program: This program is 45 minutes long and includes hands on learning and a craft. First, students will learn how Native American's in this region lived, hundreds of years ago. We bring with us several original artifacts that the students can touch and feel as they learn about their uses and importance. The program ends with a chance for the students to make a model of a teepee or wigwam. We bring all the supplies needed and students get a step-by-step walkthrough of how these common Native American structures were constructed.
